Don't Forget to Stop and Smell the Gas!
When I first moved to Delaware almost four years ago, I quickly located the gas station nearest to my house. One day, in a rush, I pulled in and hopped out of the car. Irritated to find that the station did NOT have the option of paying at the pump by credit card, I immediately left while touting, 'This station's still in the dark ages!'
Months later, with my car screaming for gas, I was forced to stop at this station. I was shocked to discover hundreds of animals (birds and cats) flocking around the station. When I went inside to pay for my gas, I met an elderly man named Ridgeway. Ridgeway told me a joke, made me laugh, and then I watched him feed the animals while they flocked to his feet. Surprisingly, he made my day! Now stopping for gas isn't an irritating inconvenience, it's an anticipated pleasure!
Lenny has observed humans and has noticed that they are often in such a rush that they don't stop and enjoy the journey. Frequently, they blaze through their day and never fully experience the magical moments of someone's laugh or smile or an animal that crosses their path.
Lenny's Challenge: Take 60 seconds and ask yourself, 'Am I rushing through life? Am I living a 'pay at the pump' lifestyle? How often do I stop and fully experience the magical moments?' What can you do today to slow down, take a breath, and truly enjoy the ride?
Enjoying the journey is 100% your choice! Shed or You're Dead (TM)!
